{"id":1734,"date":"2015-07-28T20:22:10","date_gmt":"2015-07-28T20:22:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/newsite82815\/?p=1734"},"modified":"2015-10-26T20:19:39","modified_gmt":"2015-10-26T20:19:39","slug":"ashton-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/ashton-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashton Family"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<dl id=\"attachment_1936\">\n<dt>\n<div>\n<dl id=\"\">\n<dt>\n<div style=\"width: 260px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/PortraitsInPhil_7_Ashton22.jpg\" alt=\"PortraitsInPhil_7_Ashton.jpg\" width=\"250\" height=\"252\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"profilecaption-text\"> (L-R) Howard, Pete and Meg Ashton <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Emergency Department is not a likely setting for meeting one\u2019s life partner, except perhaps in a daytime television drama.<\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/dt>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">But for Meg and Howard \u201cPete\u201d Ashton, the ER of St. Mary Medical Center was where Meg was first introduced to Pete, a Pennsylvania State Trooper, who was there as a patient 25 years ago.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cAt the time I was Head Nurse and Manager of the ER,\u201d Meg recalled. \u201cBefore long, Pete was making regular visits on official business to the ER, and the rest is history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Meg is a 35 year employee of St. Mary, presently holding the position of Trauma Program Manager. Pete, now retired from the State Police, works in the Security Department, and their son Pete is an employee in the Health Information Management department. \u201cSt. Mary is an integral part of our lives,\u201d Meg said. \u201cAll our children, Pete 23, Kim 22, Melanie 20, and Jimmy 18, were born here. They attended the Child Development Center, and in the early days they would occasionally come to work with me. Our children have participated as junior volunteers, and Jimmy worked for two summers at St. Mary Thrift Store in Langhorne.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Given these strong ties to St. Mary, it was a very natural progression for Meg and Pete to become active participants in the annual Colleague Giving Campaign. This is an opportunity for employees to make a donation to St. Mary Medical Center.
