I am so glad that I did, and since then my wife has joined me in our efforts.”

Ed and Andrea had no previous interaction with St. Mary, other than the usual medical experiences that parents of two active children might have. But Ed does have the life experiences and professional background that have turned him into an articulate advocate of St. Mary.

As a reinsurance industry executive, Ed has more than a rudimentary knowledge of medical facilities. Coupled with his work history, which has taken him to all corners of the world, Ed is in a unique position to compare St. Mary Medical Center with other institutions and declare St. Mary Medical Center an unparalleled superior center.

“John had praised the leadership qualities of Greg Wozniak,” Ed said, “and once I came on board and saw for myself what an outstanding leader Greg is, I was totally convinced that I had made the right decision to become an active supporter.”

When Ed joined the Foundation Board, the hospital was half the size it is now. What impressed Ed was the caliber of the team greg had assembled, with a determined focus on serving the needs of the community. Plans for the continued growth of St. Mary were driven by those needs, and not profit-motivated. “There is much on which to compliment greg and his team,” asserted Ed. “Their vision is attuned to the future demographics of Bucks County, preparing the hospital to better serve the community as it evolves socially and economically.”

Personal family medical issues have taken Ed and andrea to several of the most famous hospitals in the country. Ed has high regard for the excellent medical care his family has received, and is extremely grateful. however, “The human component was missing,” he noted.

Ed firmly believes St. Mary has a compassionate culture that pervades everyone from the volunteers who staff the reception desk to the nursing staff and beyond. “The hospital is patient focused, from its top level of executives right on down the employee ranks,” he said. “If you walk in the lobby and look a little confused about where to go, someone is sure to offer to help. That small gesture is indicative of the caring attitude throughout the building.”

Each time Ed returns to Bucks County from his travels, he says he renews his appreciation for the beauty of the area and the quality of life we all enjoy. “It would be easy—but inaccurate—to say that our bedroom communities are isolated from one another,” Ed said. “however, St. Mary Medical Center binds our little towns and communities together by providing compassionate care that is patient focused, with a level of medical expertise that is exceptional. It represents and serves a commonality for all of us.”

As for any aches and pains that he might experience while he is traveling the globe, Ed is firm; “I wait until I return home. So far as I am concerned, St. Mary and its staff of healthcare professionals has no equal.”

In the past, Ed Noonan and Washington Crossing resident John Smithson frequently spoke about issues relating to their reinsurance professions, and it was during one such discussion that John brought up a new topic that resonated with Ed.

“As an active supporter and Foundation Board member, John talked to me about the need for people to get involved with St. Mary Medical Center,” Ed recalled. “He indicated what an important role the hospital plays in the community, and convinced me to join the Foundation.
