{"id":3124,"date":"2015-09-29T15:25:32","date_gmt":"2015-09-29T15:25:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/?p=3124"},"modified":"2017-02-16T17:36:59","modified_gmt":"2017-02-16T17:36:59","slug":"news1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/news1\/","title":{"rendered":"Guardian Angels: On the Wings of Love"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_5374\" style=\"width: 254px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5374\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-5374 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.accentcom.com\/stmary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Guardian-Angel_72dpi-244x300.jpg\" alt=\"guardian-angel_72dpi\" width=\"244\" height=\"300\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5374\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">L-R: Stephanie Harkins, RN with patient Diane Weitz<\/p><\/div>\n<h4>Colleagues recognized for flying above and beyond for patients<\/h4>\n<p>The Guardian Angel program is a way for individuals and families who are grateful for the service and dedication of St. Mary colleagues and physicians to show their appreciation with a financial contribution to the Foundation.\u00a0 A pin and certificate are presented to each person named through the program and an annual luncheon is held in their collective honor.<\/p>\n<p>Just over 200 physicians and colleagues were named as Guardian Angels by patients and families, friends or colleagues last year.\u00a0 The recognition luncheon for all of the 2015 recipients was held on June 1 in the St. Mary Outpatient Care Facility.\u00a0 The event is a small token of appreciation from the Foundation for all these special individuals do for our patients every day.<\/p>\n<p>One patient, Diane Weitz, recently made a contribution honoring two special angels \u2013 Stephanie Harkins, RN and Dr. Michael Jacobelli \u2013 who have both consistently provided her with exceptional care during several hospitalizations over the years.\u00a0 A personalized note for each angel was included with her gift to be delivered with their certificates and pins.<\/p>\n<p>As often as possible, being named as a Guardian Angel is kept as a surprise.\u00a0 The presentation is coordinated between Foundation staff and the honored colleague\u2019s department.\u00a0 When offered the opportunity to be included in the surprise presentation for Stephanie, Diane readily accepted.\u00a0 On June 9, Diane showed up to St. Mary with balloons and a treat for her Guardian Angel and all of the colleagues on the MG3 unit.
