No one is turned away for care at the St. Mary Community Ministries because of an inability to pay, and our compassionate staff is sensitive to the multicultural community we serve.

Caring for those in need is paramount to a Catholic hospital, and St. Mary holds fast to this through the St. Mary Community Ministries located in Bensalem and through LIFE St. Mary in Trevose.

St. Mary reinvests in the community annually, with more than $16.5 million dollars for uncompensated medical care, social services, education programs, and financial assistance to the uninsured and underinsured in 2011. Following directives from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ document entitled Ethics and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services, it is our mission “to promote and defend human dignity, to care for the poor, to contribute to the common good, to exercise responsible stewardship and adherence to the moral teaching of the Church.”

Through a collaboration of social service agencies and organizations throughout the community that concur with our mission and values, we share knowledge and resources and combine efforts that lead to physical, economic, social, and spiritual health for the entire community, and most especially to those who are most in need.
